The Saint Clements Foundation is a 501-C3 non-profit trust that was created to preserve and restore the Saint Clements Estate. Edward C. Doherty, the founding trustee, wanted to ensure the estate’s 82 acres with its sweeping riverfront views would remain untouched by commercial development and the manor and grounds would continue to be restored, maintained and enjoyed for generations to come. In 1993, Mr. Doherty turned the entire property over to the foundation, of which he became the founding trustee. The foundation was then charged with the responsibility of preserving the manor home, its gardens, courtyards, priceless art treasures and antiques, and opening the estate to the enjoyment and education of the public.

In order to fund the restoration and preserve the estate in perpetuity, it was decided that the manor home and its gardens and courtyards would be made available for weddings, banquets, social gatherings, business meetings and corporate retreats.

Future plans for the foundation include an expansion of its charitable purpose beyond that of preserving the Saint Clements Castle and estate.
